Pepsi Grant Contest - Help save horses' lives!!
Hi Everyone,
SCEA has been accepted by Pepsi to participate in their grant contest. We have applied to
build a rehabilitation center for injured and abused horses. Pepsi is granting huge amounts of money
to groups like us. To get the grant we need to be voted in by the general population (meaning you
and anyone you can get to vote for us). I have included step by step instructions to make it easy for
you. You can only vote once a day until Aug 31st. Please vote daily and forward this email to all your
friends, 4H Clubs, Riding Associations and Stables. We need every vote we can get, this is a national
program with lots of competition for the grants. Please take two minutes to register to vote then 30
seconds each day to vote again. Then forward this email to everyone you know, even people you don’t know.
Here’s how to get started:
• On your home page search for
"Pepsi Refresh Project"
• Look at the “Vote to Refresh America” block on the right- at the bottom of the block left
click on the “Browse Ideas and Vote” button
• At the top right of the next screen is a blank button with a magnifying glass in the left
corner. Click on the block and type in SCEA or Jeffrey Duffner. Then click the magnifying glass.
• The next screen will have a block that says “Build a rehabilitation center for injured and
abused horses” Click on “Vote”
• You have voted for the day. To save you a bunch of time daily, save this page in your favorites.
Favorites will take you right to the voting page so the next votes are easy. I always get this question so
I will address it now. To save in favorites while you are on the vote page look at the tool bar at the top
of your screen. You will see a button that says “favorites” or “my favorites”. Click on the button and select
“add to favorites” from the drop down list. That’s it.
• Please tape a note to your monitor to remind you to vote daily.
A grant like this will allow SCEA to help many more horses. Please take the time to vote for us.
Thanks,Bryce

Western Pleasure Trainer/Instructor
I am looking for a Western Pleasure trainer/instructor for me and my horse. She needs
some training, which I would like to do, but I need instruction on how to do it. I also
need equitation instruction. I would like to pursue the basic Western classes with this
horse (pleasure/equitation, trail class, western riding). She has the basics I taught her,
she also has a jog (still needs a little work), but really struggles at the lope (more of
a canter for her). At some point I would like to learn English, so if you also teach English
that is a bonus.
I would like you to come to my barn to give lessons, located in West Mifflin (right outside
the city of Pittsburgh). There is an indoor arena (which is difficult to use in summer because
of the dust) and an outdoor ring. I would be willing to travel every once in a while for lessons,
but would prefer the majority of them to be at my barn.
Please email rmck14@AIM.com with your prices and services....thanks for taking the time to
read my ad.

QH/TB and His Owner Need Training
7 year old QH/TB and his owner need training. Jack was rescued last year and no background
information was available. He has significant anxieties about leaving his barn and his buddy
and does not control his emotions very well. While he has a wonderful curiosity and seems to
engage easily, his bad behavior has frightened me to the point where I am unable to help us move
forward. His issues are at a level where I am not able to help him with. I see the potential in
Jack and don't want to give up on him. I am looking for someone to gently help Jack get past his
fears and bad behaviors and also to help me get past mine. Please give me a call if you are a
trainer, and would like to discuss.

***FOSTER HOMES NEEDED FOR RESCUE HORSES***
Bright Futures Farm is a 501c3 charity registered with the IRS. We have been
established for eleven years. We rescue, rehab, and re-home horses in need through our
Equine Adoption Program. We are headquartered in Spartansburg, PA
Due to the economy, we have several horses coming back into our program. We are
looking for foster homes for three horses right now. The horses are described below.
Foster families cover basic food, shelter and care of the horse they receive. Fostering
expenses are tax-deductible. And, you are helping a horse in need until he/she finds a
new home. If you have a safe, secure field with a run in, or an extra stall in your barn,
please consider fostering a horse for Bright Futures Farm.
1. Butler. 3 yo Appaloosa gelding. Cutting bloodlines. Approx 14.2 hh right now.
Green under saddle. Kind. willing. Very observant of his surroundings. Can be food aggressive,
so just let him know he cannot be "pushy" when you feed. Suited to a situation where he can be
fed separately, not in a group. Does get along with other horses. Located in Mars, PA. This
will be an awesome horse after he's schooled. He's quick, turns and stops on a dime on his own.
Nice back. Easy going. Just needs schooled. UTD on shots, coggins, HC. Farrier did remove his
shoes and trim him last month. He was very long, so he will need another trim within the next
30 days. Will need dental sometime this summer.
2. Homer. 14 year old Thoroughbred gelding. Chestnut. 16 hh. Currently located in
Ellicottville, NY. We will move him to the foster home. Needs someone experienced with
Thoroughbreds. Woman who has him has never had a TB before, and she is a very nervous person.
Homer picks up on that. He needs a calm, quiet, knowledgeable handler/rider. I have ridden this
horse in the past, and I am not a professional. He's relatively easy to ride as long as you
ride with a loose leg and loose rein. If you tighten up on him, he feels boxed in. When I rode
him, and he was startled by a bird, he took a hop then froze. Didn't bolt, etc. Has high
withers...needs special attention when fitting a saddle. Saddle too tight on withers and he will
buck. Saddle fits appropriately and he's fine.
3. Becky. 1995 Chestnut Standardbred mare. 15.2 or 15.3 hh. Currently located in GA.
Rideable. Intermediate level rider. OCD in RH hock. Easy keeper. Nice personality. Would be a
great pasture mate for a lone horse.
All three of these horses are also available to adopt. Please contact us if you can
help in any way. Email: brightfuturesfarm@gmail.com phone: 814.827.8270 References available
upon request. You can view our Federal 990 tax forms on

Thank you.
